Meet your counsellor

My name is Craig Wilson. Having grown up in Northern Ireland and spent some years in Asia, I now offer individual counselling to adults (18 & over) from my new hometown of Edinburgh.

Meet Craig, the counsellor at Headwinds

My journey with counselling.

I found my way to becoming a counsellor through working in student support with a college Inclusive Learning department. It was here that I observed the power of therapeutic relationship as a side effect of my role and was encouraged to develop the skills to match my temperament.

My own experiences of therapy have ranged from a few sessions to speak through a specific issue, structured blocks of 6 or 12 sessions, to longer open-ended therapy. All were different, most were positive. I know what does, and does not, work for me when I am in the client chair, and I also know that the clients who sit in front of me are unique in their needs…

How I work.

My Pluralistic approach to therapy means that I invite an ongoing conversation about our process so that you remain in control of your therapy. While I can draw on a range of approaches where appropriate or preferred, you can always expect a respectful ear from a warm and grounded listener. Tears, silence, laughter or anger; your emotions are welcome and safe.

If you would like to discuss your needs and how we may work together, please contact me to arrange your free 25 minute consultation and I can answer any questions that you may have.

My qualifications.

I hold a Diploma in Counselling from AIPC (Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors) and am nearing completion of a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice with Chrysalis, here in the UK. I am registered with the ICO as a data controller, hold professional insurance and have regular oversight in my work from both a supervisor and a peer supervision group.
